  • During chilly mornings and evenings in northern Namibia's rainy season, the women of Okapembambu village draw steaming buckets of milk from their cows, despite the distraction of ankle-deep mud and manure. The women add a bit of soured milk to the fresh liquid to hasten the process of natural fermentation, and they shake calabash gourds for hours to make butter.   • Maddox Dairy in Riverdale, California. The dairy floor is cleaned by flooding water as each new group of cows comes in to be milked. Maddox Dairy is currently home to 3500 milking cows, calves, heifers and bulls. The dairy is a "birth to milking operation", with four, double-12, pregnant herringbone-milking parlors, free stall barns, calf raising barn and calving facilities. The dairy does their own embryo transfer work and markets their genetics worldwide. The Maddox Dairy was honored in 2001 with the Distinguished Dairy Cattle Breeder award for being a "Visionary Holstein Breeder", having bred more than 330 Gold Medal Dams, 502 Excellent cows, and their advancements in gene research for the Dairy industry.

These well-preserved bones of Mammuthus columbi were discovered in Lincoln County, Nebraska, in 1922, a site famous for its fossils. The skeleton was assembled in 1933. 1992.

MODEL RELEASED (2002).Pherin Pharmaceutical produces a family of pharmaceutical compounds called vomeropherins. These compounds are delivered to the vomeronasal organ (VNO) that in turn affects the hypothalamus and the limbic system. The human VNO is linked to the hypothalamus and limbic areas, which enables Pherin to develop therapeutic drugs targeted against a variety of medical conditions associated with these brain regions such as mood disorders, neuro-endocrine function, body weight management, body temperature, sexual motivation, water and salt balance, blood pressure, and sugar and fat metabolism. .The vomeronasal organ (VNO) or Jacobson's organ is an auxiliary olfactory sense organ in some tetrapods. In adults, it is located in the vomer bone, between the nose and the mouth. Anatomical studies demonstrate that in humans the vomeronasal organ regresses during fetal development, as is the case with some other mammals, including other apes, cetaceans, and some bats. There is no evidence of a neural connection between the organ and the brain in adult humans. Nevertheless, a small pit can be found in the nasal septum of some people, and some researchers have argued that this pit represents a functional vomeronasal organ. Thus, its possible presence in humans remains controversial.

As it is very rare that a sample can be accurately related to a specific genus of animal, coprolites are classified according to their own taxonomy. Particularly well-preserved examples may reveal data on the animal's diet, especially in more recent mammals such as bears and cave lions. Fossil fairs provide a forum for amateur and commercial collector to trade in prehistoric remains. Although frowned upon by many academics, amateur paleontologists have often made finds of previously unknown species. (1991)

On the table next to the bed is a leg bone from a dinosaur and the skull of a prehistoric rhinoceros-like animal (Brontotherium sp.). Brontotherium was a genus of mammals that lived in the Lower Oligocene period about 35 million years ago in what is now North America. This photo was taken during the Fossil Fair at Tucson, Arizona, where amateur and commercial fossil collectors gather to trade in the remains of prehistoric animals.
