Some of the Mustapha family's goats in Dar es Salaam village, Chad, begin their daily journey to first get water from the wadi, then start their search for something green to eat. Wadis in the central part of Chad are dry nine months of the year. During that time, villagers must dig down to the water, shoring up the wells with millet stalks to keep them from collapsing.
