In the past, weavers of the Ura Valley village of Ura traded weavings for food to supplement the limited crops that would grow in the subsistence farmer's poor soil. Today, they might just as well be selling the weavings to a wholesaler or a passerby for currency to purchase the foods they need. The village has electricity now, powered by a hydroelectric plant.
