Grasshoppers, with the wings removed, in the hand of a Vendan child in northeastern South Africa, collected from the field near his village. After a half-hour foraging, the grasshoppers are brought back to one of the mothers to cook and then the children eat them with porridge. The children couldn't agree on whether meat or insects taste best but all agree that the grasshoppers, as well as mopane worms, winged termites, and locusts are enjoyable. Masetoni Village, (Venda).
